AREMA STARTS UP THE NEW TIVENYS TREATMENT PLANT

Yesterday, June 14, the renovation of the Tivenys wastewater treatment plant (EDAR) was put into service, which allows it to meet the current and future sanitation needs of the municipality, in addition to guaranteeing quality treated water in accordance with the provisions of the Directive 91/271/EEC. The mayor of Tivenys, Eladi Galbe; the president of the Baix Ebre County Council, Xavier Faura and the director of the Wastewater Treatment Area of the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), Isabel Gandullo, visited the facilities.

The new Tivenys treatment plant replaces the one that was in service, now having a capacity of 150 m3/day and consists of a purification process through activated sludge with the construction of a biological reactor, a decanter for purified water and a sludge thickener, thus guaranteeing the treatment of the water until the elimination of nutrients, providing the environment with good quality outlet water.

In addition, the new treatment plant incorporates a photovoltaic field with a power of 30 Kwp (kilowatt power), so that part of the plant’s energy consumption is generated on site. This installation has been carried out by PRENERGY, the energy services subsidiary of GRUPO RUBAU, a specialist in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

As a result of the remodeling carried out by the companies AREMA, RUBAU and PRENERGY, the treatment plant has doubled its wastewater treatment capacity, improving the quality of the environment and clearly improving its energy efficiency, which reflects the clear commitment of RUBAU GROUP for the circular economy and the sustainable development objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
