12 Jan AREMA AND RUBAU ARE AWARDED THE CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW TRAP IN SALMORRES
A section of the new trap of the Llobregat river will be executed by the consortium formed by the companies CONSTRUCCIONES RUBAU, AREMA, COMPAÑÍA GENERAL DE AGUAS DE CATALUÑA and CANALIZACIONES CIVILES, S.A.,
Infrastructures de la Generalitat de Catalunya, part of the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya, has awarded on 14/10/2021 the contract for section 2 of the new trap.
The amount awarded exceeds 14 million euros including VAT.
With a length of some 11 kilometres, this section will run between the towns of La Vigueta and Abrera, and is part of an infrastructure that will cross 22 municipalities in the Bages and Baix Llobregat regions, with a transport capacity of 1,683 litres per second, and which will improve the quality of the river, reducing salt deposits.
Four sections are planned, between Súria and Castellgalí, Balsareny and Castellgalí, Castellgalí and Abrera, and a final section in Prat de Llobregat.
Construction work on the section of the new Llobregat saline waste collector will begin in February 2022 and the planned duration of the works is 30 months.
The new trap will serve to renovate an obsolete infrastructure, more than 30 years old, which is showing visible signs of exhaustion. Leakages have been frequent and the contaminated brine has affected more or less large areas of land, resulting in the death of river vegetation and fauna.
